Back at the ranch

Its been a while - much to take care of right now.

The boys are fine, but their owner has not been feeling well. Was up at the ranch last Friday and I got there later than my usual time. Ohhhhh, did I get "yelled at" by Stormy. He was downright angry (I was at the mercy of UPS to get a package signed) and horses don't understand the postal system. He was butting me with his head and I could feel his anger. Its rare that he gets that angry. But he did walk with me afterwards and I worked on him. He is a joy to have energy healing sessions. He will quietly graze and just let the session work itself.

Windy and Illusion were a little bit more understanding and carrots helped ease them. It was a beautiful day and we all just had a quiet time in the pasture. It is so peaceful when the three of them are quietly grazing. They also love what Wlllow and I call their "spearmint tea". There are some spearmint plants just on the outside of the fence area and Wlllow and I take turns filling a large tub with cold, fresh water and throw in some spearmint leaves. I love the smell of fresh mint and the boys look forward to this delightful water. It is so refreshing - when I get home I make some spearmint tea and chill it...

Take care, everybody.

Time with The Boys

Went to the ranch for a couple of hours today. The weather was hot, muggy. This is the kind of weather where I get tired rather quickly.

Windy, Stormy and Illusion (Sundance) were wonderful. Illusion (Sundance) was out grazing and I was able to tempt him back to the grassy area (near the pavilion) with a carrot. He followed me very quietly, but with great expectation. He has a sweetness to him. His eyes...oh, those eyes. But it is his sweet heart and sweet spirit that really get to me. I was able to work on him for about a half hour today.

Stormy and Windy were in the small barn munching on the hay. I had some quiet time with both of them in the small barn...it was heaven. Windy kept digging into a pile of hay and Stormy was his usual quiet self. I was able to have time with each horse today. There are times when Windy gets a bit possessive - he'll actually chase the other two away. He has such a presence, such an aura about him. His wisdom is deep, his wisdom is old. His eyes truly look deep into one's soul. There have been many times when we simply look into each other. Knowing the abuse that he suffered years ago, I am still amazed that he trusts me.

Stormy is the solitary one. There are times when Illusion stays by him - wanting to be Stormy's friend. Stormy doesn't quite know what to make of it - but I feel that once his heart opens, we'll see such a personality...his wisdom is from another place, another time - and as yet, unrevealed.

Windy and Stormy spent time with me in the run-in shed today. Last summer when I first began to work on them, Willow and I would work on them one-on-one in the pavilion area. The four of us would get into a deep meditative zone and the three of us were in that zone today. It is an amazing place to be - very peaceful, very quiet.

Was able to see Romeo and Pawnee for a few minutes today. They are feeling much better. Also got to see the mama-horse who, I think, is named Patches. She looks so beautiful in the pasture and to see her, its obvious that she is happy. The other day, I looked up to see her galloping back to the north pasture and the joy...the pure joy of her movements took my breath away.

That's it for now...

First post

This is my first posting for my blog. I am a Reiki Healer who works on horses. I'd like to journal my adventures with horses that I visit or work with.

A friend, Willow Earth, owns 3 of the horses I work with. Windy,Stormy and Illusion (also known as SunDance) are all white, but Illusion has a beautiful black mane and those liquid eyes that just look into one's soul. Willow is a gifted Native American Seer who lives at her family's ranch outside of REading, PA.

I am also preparing to self-publish my first children's story. It is titled "Cassidy's Rescue" and is about horse rescue. The story is geared to children, but some adults who have read early drafts have also loved it. There are 2 sequels planned.

My posts may not be on a daily basis, but will do my best to post when I go to the ranch or take FOB's (Fans of Barbaro) to Double Trouble Stables at Fair Hill, near Elkton MD.

Watch here for further info on equine meditation workshops to be held at the ranch (or I can "take my show on the road".) starting in November 2007. Will also update on when "Cassidy" is in print.
